Ridgid Inner Tube Core Barrel Wrench - Pro Tool Reviews
Here at PTR, we don’t end up covering much of the core drilling end of the industry. It’s an incredibly necessary part of the industrial construction process though. When you’re investing millions of dollars putting thousands of tons of steel on a ground location, suddenly a geologist sounds like a good idea. That geologist is going to take a look at core samples, most likely using a core barrel system. That’s where the Ridgid Inner Tube Core Barrel Wrench comes in. Environmental, mineral exploration, and soil sampling are also popular reasons for core sampling.
The most popular core barrel systems have an outer and inner barrel. The inner barrel holds the actual core sample and has to be removed from the outer barrel. The Ridgid Inner Tube Core Barrel Wrench handles that task.
The most noticeable feature of the Ridgid Inner Tube Core Barrel Wrench is its three jaw system. Using this design allows for one handed ratcheting and helps prevent distortion of the inner core barrel so that it continues to fit inside the outer barrel. The jaws features a textured gripping surface to prevent slipping. That surface is made of replaceable inserts, so when they wear out, you’re not forced to replace the entire tool.
In addition, the length has been optimized to help users more easily meet the torque required to make or break core barrel connections.
There are 2 sizes currently of the Ridgid Inner Tube Core Barrel Wrench, and 2 more on the way. Available now are WLN-IT (size N) and WLH-IT (size H).
